Villa-Style Luxury on Kouri Island
“One Suite THE TERRACE” is a villa-style hotel located on Kouri Island, in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island. Nearby, there is also a sister hotel, “One Suite THE GRAND.”
You can access Kouri Island via the Kouri Bridge, a 1,960-meter-long bridge completed in 2005.

Ocean View Terrace Deluxe A: Room Highlights
This time, I chose the “Ocean View Terrace Deluxe A” room. At the time of booking, all the rooms seemed similar, so I opted for the largest one without much deliberation.

Let me first introduce the interior of the room.
Upon entering, you’ll first find the living room.
A dining table and a sofa are placed in the room, with a large TV mounted on the wall.
The living room alone was spacious enough.
Adjacent to the living room, there was a secondary bedroom.
It could be separated from the living room by a door and had a closet. (I ended up not using this room at all.)
The sofa was large, accommodating about three people, and there was also a coffee table.
Fully-Equipped Kitchen Overview
Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen.
As expected of a villa-style hotel, the kitchen was fully equipped.
It featured an induction cooktop and a sink.
Perhaps designed for large parties, it had an abundance of cutlery.
There was an electric kettle, a coffee set, and a Bluetooth speaker.
Coffee beans were stored in the refrigerator, allowing guests to grind their own coffee—a delightful activity.
The refrigerator also contained alcoholic beverages as part of the minibar. Coffee beans were stored in the top-right jar.
It included Orion beer and chu-hi. Soft drinks were available in vending machines in the shared areas.
Main Bedroom and Spacious Terrace
At the back of the room is the main bedroom.
Two large double beds were connected, creating a spacious sleeping area.
The bedside featured a lamp and an alarm clock.
The main bedroom is connected to a large outdoor terrace, offering views of the Kouri Island sea and bridge right from the bed.
Here’s the view of the main bedroom from the terrace.
At the center of the terrace is a dining table.
A professional-grade barbecue grill by “Char-Broil” is installed.
Scenic Views from the Bedroom Terrace
From the bedroom terrace, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Kouri Island sea and bridge.
Although the weather was cloudy during my stay, the blue sea still stood out beautifully.
Even without clear skies, the vibrant blue sea under the textured gray clouds was stunning.
Stylish and Functional Bathroom
The bathroom is located next to the living room and features a view bath.
The bath area has large windows offering a view of the outdoors.
The bath area has large windows offering a view of the outdoors.
From the bathroom window, you can enjoy the same view of Kouri Island’s sea and bridge as from the terrace.
The bathroom features two sinks with blue mosaic tiles on the backsplash.
Amenities included toothbrushes, razors, body lotion, cotton swabs, hairbrushes, and body towels.
The body soap and shampoo were by “TAYIV,” a Japanese-made brand.
The bath towels were neatly rolled for convenience.
In addition to a hairdryer, a hair iron was also provided—a rare find.
The toilet was in a separate space next to the bathroom and came with a washlet feature.
Thoughtful Details and Amenities
The living room features a large ceiling fan.
This remote control allows you to operate the ceiling fan.
A Plasmacluster air purifier with a humidifier was also available in the room.
The entrance had bug-repellent spray, insecticide, and lanterns for pest control.
The closet in the secondary bedroom included a safe for valuables.
The pajamas were a two-piece set and felt comfortable to wear.
Memorable Barbecue on the Terrace
For this stay, I chose a plan that included both breakfast and dinner.
Dinner options included “Barbecue on the Terrace,” “Agu Pork Shabu-Shabu Indoors,” or “Italian Dining at a Nearby Affiliated Restaurant.”
I opted for the barbecue on the terrace. Having a barbecue on the terrace while enjoying the view was one of the reasons I chose this villa-type hotel. The hotel website provided the following description of their barbecue, which sounded appealing:
“Enjoy the flavors of Okinawa with a simple-to-prepare barbecue featuring local beef and pork, fresh seafood from the island, and Yanbaru-grown vegetables, all prepped by the hotel’s chef, against the backdrop of Kouri Island’s beautiful sunset.”
(From the hotel’s official website)
Upon check-in, I informed the staff of my preferred time, and they came to prepare the barbecue at the room. They lit the barbecue grill and provided instructions on how to use it and cook the food.
The meat and vegetables looked delicious.
They also set up the table with salads and condiments.
I thoroughly enjoyed the barbecue while taking in the stunning view of Kouri Island’s sea.
“One Suite THE TERRACE” is located on a hill and is accessed via a narrow road by car.
Upon entering the premises by rental car, staff promptly welcomed me.
I was guided to the reception area in the front building to complete the check-in process.
I enjoyed a welcome drink while sitting on the sofa during check-in.
The property consists of standalone villas. With only nine villas in total, it felt very private.
Here is the exterior view of the “Ocean View Terrace Deluxe A,” where I stayed.
The front building featured vending machines, an ice machine, and washer-dryer facilities.
Exploring the Local Area
I took a walk around the hotel.
Charming, traditional Okinawan houses were scattered around, with glimpses of the sea through alleyways. The island felt like a picturesque movie setting.
About a 5-minute walk from the hotel, I found an old-fashioned shop where I could buy drinks and snacks.
Breakfast with a View in Your Room
Breakfast is delivered to your room at your preferred time.
Breakfast can also be enjoyed on the balcony with a view. The main dishes were an omelet and Agu pork bacon.
Room Rates: What to Expect
・The room rates vary significantly depending on the season or day of the week. It’s common for prices to differ by several thousand yen even with just a one-day shift.
・The rate for my stay at “One Suite THE TERRACE” was 62,073 yen per night (including breakfast and dinner, tax included). Hotel prices in Japan have been soaring recently, so they are likely even higher now.
