Located Along Onna Village’s Stunning Coastline: Halekulani Okinawa Review
Halekulani Okinawa is a luxury resort hotel situated in Onna Village, northern Okinawa. The area is home to a cluster of high-end resorts such as The Busena Terrace and The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa.
The image below shows the gate of Halekulani Okinawa as seen from National Route 58. Since there is no train service, you’ll need to access the hotel by rental car, taxi, or bus.
Inside the Top-Floor Standard Room at Halekulani Okinawa
This time, I chose a “Standard Room,” the most common and abundant room type at Halekulani Okinawa.
At check-in, I was offered an upgrade to a top-floor room for an additional 4,000 yen. The view from the top floor was stunning, and I felt lucky to have accepted the upgrade.
Upon entering the room, the sight of the beautiful ocean immediately caught my eye.
The room features a white-toned interior with light wood accents, creating a relaxing resort ambiance.
Spanning about 50 square meters, the room is furnished with two large beds, a table, a sofa, and plenty of space to unwind.
A table and sofa are conveniently placed in front of the large TV.
On the table, there was a welcome gift of snacks waiting for me.
Here is the view of the room as seen from the window side.
From inside the room, you can enjoy an expansive view of the blue ocean and horizon.
The bedside table features a tablet device that allows you to control lighting, air conditioning, and even make restaurant reservations. A Bluetooth speaker is also available.
The bedside table on the window side holds a phone and a notepad.
The bedside lighting adds a cozy and elegant touch.
This is the hallway in front of the room’s entrance.

The bathroom door can be opened, making the room feel even more spacious.
Here is the floor plan of the accommodation level. The top floor of Halekulani Okinawa (10th floor) appears to have nine guest rooms.
Stunning Balcony Views at Halekulani Okinawa
One of the best experiences at Halekulani Okinawa was the view from the balcony.
The balcony offers a 180-degree panoramic view, allowing you to enjoy the stunning ocean scenery at any time.
There’s no divider between balconies, so it could feel awkward if you and your neighbors step out at the same time. (Fortunately, I didn’t encounter anyone from the neighboring room.)
From the balcony, you can see the entire hotel grounds.
Halekulani Okinawa has five pools, and the largest one, the “Orchid Pool,” was prominently visible. The orchid pattern on the pool is said to be made from mosaic tiles.
Simply relaxing in the balcony chair made my visit to this hotel worthwhile.
The upgrade to a top-floor room was worth much more than the additional cost.
Luxury Bathroom Features at Halekulani Okinawa
Let’s take a closer look at the bathroom.
The bathroom features a sink in the center, with a bathtub on one side and a separate shower booth on the other.
The bathroom includes two sinks, offering ample space and comfort.
The drawers beneath the sink contain an amenities set, while towels and a hairdryer are neatly stored below that.
A brush is provided.
Shaving kits, towels, cotton swabs, and more are available.
Toothbrushes and bath salts are also included.
The hairdryer is a “FUKUGEN” model, stored in a sleek round case.
The bathtub is located on the side facing the guest room.
The bathtub is spacious enough to stretch your legs fully.
A shower is also attached to the bathtub.
A bath pillow is thoughtfully provided.
At the back of the bathroom, there is a separate glass-enclosed shower booth.
The shower booth is fully tiled, exuding a clean and fresh vibe.
The amenities are from “ROJA Parfums,” a luxury British brand.
A rain shower is included as well.
The shower booth is spacious and features a built-in bench.
The toilet is located just to the side as you enter the room.
The toilet area also has a well-equipped sink and mirror.
Minibar Features at Halekulani Okinawa: A Look Inside
Let’s explore the minibar corner.
On the countertop, there’s a Nespresso machine and complimentary mineral water.
The top drawer contains coffee cups and coffee capsules.
The second drawer holds various types of glasses.
The bottom drawer contains an electric kettle and an ice bucket.
The refrigerator is stocked with a selection of paid beverages.
Spacious Walk-in Closet at Halekulani Okinawa: Guest Comfort Redefined
The closet is spacious and designed as a walk-in style.
You can open your suitcase comfortably, and plenty of hangers are provided, allowing you to keep the room clutter-free.
A wireless iron and a safety box are also available.
Halekulani Okinawa’s original beach bag is a delightful complimentary item that guests can take home (worth 3,100 yen if purchased).
Beach sandals and slippers are provided.
Guests can also take home Halekulani Okinawa’s original beach sandals.
A Warm Welcome: Exploring Halekulani Okinawa’s Entrance
Let’s take a closer look at the room’s finer details.
Since Halekulani Okinawa’s grounds are vast, the map provided at check-in was quite useful.
The remote control is neatly housed in its own case.
The lighting is adjustable with fine controls.
The bed’s headboard features a stylish design.
A full-length mirror with rounded edges adds a soft touch.
The stand lamp enhances the room’s cozy ambiance.
The balcony features adjustable louvered sliding doors.
A controller for the air conditioning is conveniently located.
The room’s carpet feels plush and luxurious.
The tiles in calm gray tones create a serene atmosphere.
How to Access Halekulani Okinawa
Next, let’s talk about accessing the hotel.
Along National Route 58, you’ll spot the large gate of Halekulani Okinawa.
Hotel staff are stationed here and promptly called a cart for us.
We took a cart ride to the hotel building.
It takes less than a minute to reach the hotel.
A grand porte-cochère comes into view.
A Warm Welcome: Exploring Halekulani Okinawa’s Entrance
Upon arriving at the hotel by cart, staff warmly welcomed us.
We were escorted to the entrance lobby, where check-in was comfortably done while seated.
As a welcome drink, we were served blue pineapple juice along with an alcohol spray for sanitization.
The entrance lobby is located on the second floor.
From the elevator hall on the second floor, we headed to the guest room floors.
Our room was on the top floor, the 10th floor.
As the elevator doors opened, we were greeted by an incredible view.
The elevator hall on the 10th floor offers panoramic ocean views, creating a sense of openness.
We walked down the hallway to reach our room.
The hallway features a full wall of windows, making it bright and inviting.
At the end of the hallway, there’s a relaxing spot where you can enjoy the views. It’s a lovely touch.
Halekulani Okinawa’s Pools: Relaxation and Scenic Views
We explored the pool area beyond the entrance lobby on the second floor.
Stepping outside the lobby, you’ll find a scenic spot with views of the reflecting pool, the swimming pool, and the ocean—perfect for photos, as many guests were doing.
This is the largest pool, the Orchid Pool.
There’s a shop by the poolside where you can order drinks and snacks.
From the Orchid Pool, we ventured further toward the ocean.
There’s a Quiet Pool designated for guests aged 16 and above, offering a tranquil atmosphere.
Compared to the Orchid Pool, this one has a more serene and peaceful ambiance.
The Quiet Pool offers direct views of the expansive ocean.
Private Beach at Halekulani Okinawa: Serenity by the Sea
We strolled along the walking paths within the hotel grounds to reach the private beach.
It takes about five minutes to walk from the hotel lobby to the beach, but a cart service is also available.
A signboard with safety instructions is posted at the entrance to the beach.
It’s a short walk to the designated swimming area.
Beach chairs are lined up on the sandy shore in front of the swimming area.
This is the view of Halekulani Okinawa as seen from the beach.
The sandy beach and ocean are pristine, with many coral fragments washed ashore.
Sunset Wing at Halekulani Okinawa: A Paradise for Evening Views
We visited the “Sunset Wing,” another entrance area at Halekulani Okinawa.
This is the entrance to the Sunset Wing.
As its name suggests, the Sunset Wing offers stunning views of the sunset.
The scenery framed by the lobby windows was absolutely breathtaking.
The Sunset Wing also has a pool, which, like the Quiet Pool, is restricted to guests aged 16 and above, providing a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
Dining at HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY: Halekulani Okinawa’s Casual Elegance
We had dinner at the restaurant “HOUSE WITHOUT A KEY.”
Among the various restaurants at Halekulani Okinawa, this one felt the most casual.
The weather was pleasant, so we opted for a terrace seat.
We ordered cocktails and pineapple juice for drinks.
While à la carte options were available, we chose a course menu for simplicity. The price was reasonable at 6,800 yen per person.
The meal began with three types of bread and olive oil. They were so delicious that we finished them quickly, and refills were complimentary.
The soup of the day.
A salad for the appetizer.
The main dish was grilled Agu pork.
One main dish was upgraded to Japanese beef sirloin for an additional 2,000 yen.
Dessert and coffee were served to conclude the meal.
Night Views at Halekulani Okinawa: The Magic of Illuminated Elegance
After dinner, we took a stroll around the hotel’s public areas. The entrance lobby at night had a calm and elegant atmosphere.
It’s a perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The reflecting pool and swimming pools were beautifully illuminated.
We also visited the Halekulani Boutique, where original goods and other items are available for purchase.
Fitness Gym at Halekulani Okinawa: Exercise with Ocean Views
The fitness gym is located on the third floor.
The gym is spacious and equipped with multiple machines. The views from here are excellent, making it a comfortable place to work out.
Halekulani Okinawa Room Rates: Luxury That Fits Your Budget
・The room rates at the hotel vary significantly depending on the season and the day of the week. Even a one-day difference can result in a price change of several thousand yen.
・The cost of my stay at Halekulani Okinawa was approximately 55,000 yen per night (including tax). On the day of check-in, I upgraded to a top-floor room for an additional 4,000 yen.
The paid upgrade to the top floor was offered at check-in and was truly worth it. Initially, I was assigned a room on the 4th floor, but the views from the 4th and 10th floors were significantly different.
